MANAGEMENT OF ALLERGY

The allergy may manifest in the form of any of the disorders given below : 

• Nasal allergy
• Naso-pharyngeal allergy
• Naso-bronchial allergy
• Bronchial allergy
• Skin allergy
• Drug allergy
• Food allergy  

Management of allergy:

We use a combination of:

शटी + मधुयष्टी + ज़हरमोहरा + यशद

The combination is available as:

LERGEX Tablet

4 tablets stat + 2 tablets every 3 hours to a maximum of 12 tablets in a day.

In 70-80% of the cases, significant improvement begins in the first 24 hours only.

Principles of treatment that make Lergex tablet usage effective:

1. Use right medicines - Lergex contains शटी, मधुयष्टी, ज़हरमोहरा, यशद;

2. Use medicines in right form -

Lergex contains:

• High quality (10:1) extracts of शटी;
• High quality (10:1) extracts of मधुयष्टी;
• High quality ज़हरमोहरा भस्म;
• High quality यशद भस्म 

3. Use medicines in right dose -

Each tablet of Lergex contains:

• शटी extract (10:1) 300 mg (3 gm शटी चूर्ण के बराबर)
• मधुयष्टी extract (10:1) 250 mg (2.5 gm मधुयष्टी चूर्ण के बराबर)
• ज़हरमोहरा भस्म 225 mg
• यशद भस्म 25 mg

When the patient takes 12 tablets in a day, he/she gets:

• शटी extract (10:1):

       300×12= 3600 mg (36 gm शटी चूर्ण के बराबर);

• मधुयष्टी extract (10:1):

       250×12=3000 mg (30 gm मधुयष्टी चूर्ण के बराबर)

• ज़हरमोहरा भस्म:

       225×12= 2700 mg

• यशद भस्म: 

       25×12=300 mg

Discussion:

The desirable therapeutic effect in allergy is achieved only when the patient gets the medicines in above-mentioned dose.

Usually we get the desired results in 3-7 days. As soon as this happens, the dose is gradually tapered off as below as 1 tablet daily. 

As the dose is reduced to 6 tablets a day (2 tablets thrice a day), we continue it for another 3-4 weeks. Thereafter, the dose is tapered off to the minimum required maintenance dose of 1 tablet once/twice a day.

Aims & Objectives of the treatment in the above-mentioned way:

The above-mentioned way of treatment is aimed at:

1. Giving fast and maximum relief to the patient in his/her problems; and

2. Modifying the disease process and thus lower the intensity, frequency, and duration of the allergic episodes.

Results:

• In about 15-20% of the patients, the allergic attacks usually stop (sometimes for many years);

• In about 30-40% of the patients, there occurs marked reduction in the intensity, frequency, and duration of the allergic attacks;

• In about 15-20% of the patients, there occurs moderate reduction in the intensity, frequency, and duration of the allergic attacks and the patient needs repeated courses of the Lergex tablet as above;

• In about 15-20% of the patients, the improvement is mild and sometimes unsatisfactory. Such patients may need some additional medicines or measures to manage the allergic process.

Conclusion:

Lergex tablet (शटी, मधुयष्टी, ज़हरमोहरा, यशद) when used in the above-mentioned way, is effective in a majority of the patients suffering from various types and severities of allergic disorders.
